Canada’s Agriculture Day 2018

February 13, 2018 is Canada’s Agriculture Day – A day to celebrate Canadian farmers, agriculture and agri-businesses. The whole agricultural community comes together to help consumers make a connection to where their food comes from and showcase what agriculture does for the Canadian economy.

From milking robots to precision planting technology, Canada’s agricultural industry is one of the most innovative, advanced and forward-thinking in the world. This innovation has led Canadian agriculture to play a very significant role in our economy. Did you know?

  • 1 in 8 Canadian jobs are in the agriculture sector.
  • Canadian agriculture contributes $108 billion (6.6%) to Canada’s GDP.
  • Canada is the world’s fifth-largest agricultural exporter. This is no surprise, the world wants our food! We should be proud of our farmers who produce some of the safest and highest quality food in the world.

Here at South Easthope Mutual, we salute our farmer and agricultural policyholder member-owners. We were founded by farmers in 1871 and continue to serve them to this day. We’re proud to protect our farmers so that they can continue to do what they do best, producing the best and safest food products to feed Canada and the world.

On February 13th and every day, we ask you to look for and purchase local and Canadian produced food. Supporting local farmers will help keep the local and Canadian economies strong. And, when we have strong rural economies it makes our communities better places to live.

If you know a farmer thank them for everything they do.
