Dress Down Fridays

Every Friday, South Easthope Mutual employees live our value of ‘community’ and help their neighbours. Thy have the option of paying $2 to wear jeans to the office. Throughout the year the funds are collected and each December, employees choose where to donate the money raised.

For 2018, our employees decided to donate teddy bears to our local fire departments. The bears will be given to children who may need some comfort after a traumatic situation. The fire departments may also use them as part of their fire education programs. The teddy bears were given to the following departments:

• North Perth Fire Department
• Tavistock Fire Department
• Hickson Fire Department
• Woodstock Fire Department

The teddy bears had their fire jackets embroidered with little fire emblems. In the spirit of supporting local, the committee had Tammy Clayton of Simply Stitchin in Innerkip do the embroidery.

A donation was also given to Camp Alliwannado, a summer youth camp in Tavistock for their ‘Gift of Camp’ program. It helps to send a children to the camp who might not otherwise get the opportunity.

The program, run completely by employees celebrated 14 years at the end of November 2018. Over the 14 years, employees have raised a grand total of $18,426.45. A variety of charities and causes in Oxford and Perth Counties have benefited from the donations over the years. Our employees are very proud of the program and look forward to supporting our community for years to come.
